Parks & Panthers Partner PARKS AND
RECREATION
RECEIVES $2500 GRANT FROM CAROLINA PANTHERS CHARITIES
(GOLDSBORO, NC) – Congratulations are in order to the City of Goldsboro Parks
and Recreation Department for being awarded a grant of $2500.00. This grant,
awarded by Carolina Panthers Charities will allow the creation of a Challenger
Flag Football League program in the Goldsboro, NC area. This program will
service individuals with disabilities, specifically ages 9-11.
Children that have participated in other Challenger Flag Football Programs have
seen significant improvements in their physical ability, a boost in confidence
levels and expanded social skills. Through the many positive experiences that
the game of football can provide, perhaps most momentous is the thrill of being
a member of a team.
Goldsboro’s Challenger Sports Flag Football League Program will specifically
target individuals with disabilities ages 9-11. “Mr. Jeff Winbush, Athletics
Supervisor and Ms. D’Leeshia Lee, Licensed Recreation Therapist, will work
closely with Recreation Superintendant, Ms. Felicia Lucas. Together they build a
strong team and will create a high-quality program,” said Mrs. Sherry Archibald,
Interim Parks & Recreation Director. The program will start in March 2012 and
last for eight weeks.
